I want to tell you a story about another short trip that I had to Bintan Island, a little part of Riau Province.
It was a sunny day, Batam cerah banget jadi aku sangat senang, soalnya terakhir kali ke Batam mendung seharian cuy. Ajrut-ajrutan kebanting-banting kaya naek Tornado. Awalnya gue gak nyaman trus agak mual tapi setelah lemesin badan gue jadi bisa ngikutin irama bantingan kapal. Bisa jadi tips untuk teman-teman semua kalau mau naik speed boat: lemesin aja bray, jangan ngelewan irama kapal, jangan tegang.
Setelah 15 menit kepontang-panting, akhirnya sampailah di Pelabuhan Tanjung Uban. Destinasi pertama kami Gurun Pasir Busung, sekitar setengah jam nyetir dari Tanjung Uban. Bintan is so smol brah, kota itu cuma ada satu lampu merah.
Iyain aja dah biar cepet.
Chapter 3: Bintan is finished.
An Unknown Lesson
A loud scream from a quiet soul.

Flash Trip #1: Manado
ATTENTION: this trip is lack of picture. I'm sorry if I my explanation isn't as clear as you expected, I'm trying to describe the condition in detail. Other thing is... I have to dig into my gallery to find the picture of this trip and it takes some time so I'll upload it later. Stay tune for the pics!
==================================================
My division had another event in Manado last February. I was so excited, one more island to step on :)
I was the last crew to depart, with Mas Rahmat and Mas Inggar. We had to make sure all of our belongings were prepared well before we caught the plane at 3 pm. We got delayed so we arrived in Sam Ratulangi Airport on 19.00 WIT (17 WIB). That night was drizzling, but I stil can see the streets thanks to the streetlight.
Right after we got out the airport I saw so many churches here and there. Not surprising, since Christian is the major religion of Manado. But this is the first time that I saw many churches in the street, so it was fun for me. The churches came with unique exteriors, some of them were so eye-catchy that you could see them from afar. Some of them also very big and high. The small, traditional churches also got my attention. They almost seems like a common house from afar.
There are many newly built roads in Manado, and beside those newly buit roads are huge rock cliff. The driver who took us said that people in Manado built roads by "splitting up" a cliff. That's why we passed through many cliffs.
The event of my division held the day after. I stayed inside the hall the whole day, and it was raining hard. I went to explore Manado in the next morning.
The next morning I got up early so after I had my breakfast I took a walk around the hotel (it was still drizzling, btw). The hotel that I stayed in had their private beach, with the view of Manadotua Mountain across it. This is one of my picture with the mountain.
Not long after that, we went to the first destination: Pasar Ekstrim (Extreme Market).
On our way there we can see high cliffs in our left, and an open, wide sea in our right. This was my first time passing through the seaside, so relaxing.
After a half hour ride, we made it to Extreme Market.
So what makes it extreme?
This market sells fruits, vegetables, meat, chicken, fish like any other market. But what makes it special is they sell these comodities: pig, dog, bat, and even snake. So imagine you go to a market and then you see died snakes hanged I'M NOT JOKING THEY REALLY SELL THIS.
I didn't go inside myself because I found it awkward, you know, sightseeing a market. Some people in my division went inside and took a picture of the died bats that they sell. I'm not sure if I have to show you the picture, I'm worried it would be inapproppriate. You can contact me if you want to see 'the bats for sale'.
The next destination is a cliff in Manado but I forgot what was the name so lets just skip this because nothing interesting anyway.
After that we went to the famous lake in Manado, Tondano Lake.
On our way to Tondano Lake, we saw a very beautiful view.
Our driver told many interesting stories. One of them is about the extreme market. The dead snakes (the Phyton one) is quite expensive, about 60.000,- per kg. And if you're lucky, you can get a goat/deer meat for buying snakes.
No, the goat/deer meat is not a bonus from the seller.
It's the died goat/deer that the snakes have eaten, inside their belly.
So if you went to extreme market and saw a died snake hanged with large stomach, its not a pregnant snake. It's a snake who has just eaten something bigger than them.
Another fun fact that the driver told us that, people in Manado is so fond of horses. They are really into horse racing. The price of a fine, fancy horse for racing could cost as expensive as a new car (about 400 million rupiah).
Back to the destination, Tondano Lake is so peaceful. The cloudy weather doesnt make it gloomy, instead the lake is so calming with the wind blowing. We had our lunch in the edge of the lake. AND I'M SO SORRY for not taking a picture of the lake. I was so starstruck by the beauty of it.
There was a tenun seller in the restaurant, and I'm interested. I forgot what was the name but I remembered they made the tenun from banana tree fiber. The texture is so unique (it cant be burned wow), so I bought a piece for my mom.
The next (and the last) destination is shopping. I was soooo happy that I found many interesting things to buy. The shop provided tester so we could taste them before we buy. I bought klappertart and pampis ikan cakalang. Pampis is some kind of dried fish, like Abon. They are available in many variants, but my favourite is the one from ikan cakalang. They are available in 2 level of spiciness. I would definitely buy it again if I could go back here someday. After we finished shopping we went directly to the airport.
It was really short, but I had a really good time in Manado :)

A Little Batam, A Lot Singapore (Part 2)
Untuk part 2 gua mau pake setengah bahasa Indonesia-setengah bahasa Bojong karena perjalanan gua kesana penuh dengan drama, ga seru kalo pake bahasa Inggris. Eh tapi ya ada deng English sikit-sikit.
Gua mau ceritain dulu pra-perjalanan gua menuju Singapur.
Gua punya bayangan kalo tripnya tuh kaya City Tour Batam, ada pemandunya, naek bis, udah ada rundownnya, udah ada itinerarynya.... Tinggal asik-asik pokonya.
Sayangnya realisasinya ga begitu. Ntar diceritain.
Malem sebelum berangkat, tiba-tiba EO acara yang bernama Mbak Dewi ngasih gua sekumpulan tiket kemudian bilang... intinya gue diberi tanggung jawab untuk mimpin rombongan kepala kantor daerah ke Singapur. Orang EO gaada yang ngikut sama sekali.
What the actual fuck.
Asli sih deep inside gua mau ngamuk sebenernya.
Datanglah hari H.
Pas gua sarapan, turned out it was raining so hard. Ya hadeuuu dah ngurusin orang entah siapa, ga punya bayangan tempat tujuan, ujan pula,
I mean... could this get any worse??
"Hmmm jalan-jalan yang deket aja sih pak, paling Merlion, Gardens by The Bay gitu-gitu.. saya udah minta bikinin itinerary sama temen
saya yang pertukaran pelajar disana."
"Wah, ikut dong mba!"
Runtuh satu lagi angan-angan gua jalan-jalan bebas di Singapur. Ya tapi ga mungkin gua tolak, gaenak banget kan. Akhirnya aku iyakan.
Hadeh buruan kelar dah ni hari.
Waktunya naik ferry. Sensasinya mabok-ngantuk gimana gitu... tapi syahdu. Apalagi kalo sambil dengerin lagunya Real Estate. Serasa sedang jadi bintang video klip.
Sampe di Singapur jam 11an. Pelabuhannya nyatu gitu sama mal. Nah pas masuk pelabuhan, sianjir.... ngantri banget gila. Yah tapi udah sampe sini, masa balik lagi gara-gara ngantri doang. THIS IS MY FIRST TIME ALSO DUH?
Akhirnya gua memberanikan diri nanya satpam. This is also my first time talking to a foreigner (lah, yang foreigner tuh elu, Aul!)
Btw pas lagi ngantri gua sempet jejer-jejeran sama orang Korea dan gua denger mereka bercakap-cakap WUOW kek lagi nonton drakor live wakakakak (apa sih)
Setelah giliran gua selesai gua memutuskan untuk ga langsung keluar, gua mau make sure semua peserta gua dah keluar semua.
"Bukan, saya tour guide."
KAGA NGOMONG-NGOMONG KALO SEWA TOUR GUIDE. GA NGENALIN KE GUA JUGA.
Ternyata peserta tuh inisiatif sewa tour guide buat city tour.
Yaudah kita ke kantor ferry yg letaknya dua lantai diatas kita.
Drama tidak selesai disitu.
Ternyata list peserta gua dan peserta dia beda.
Jeng jeng.
Hadeh taplak.
Balik lagilah gua ke atas.
Akhirnya urusan boarding pass kelar.
Walaupun underground, mesjidnya nyaman. Karpetnya empuk, tempat wudhunya juga enak.
Abis solat, cari makan.
Setelah cari makan, mulai deh eksplor Singapur pake pikiran masing-masing. Ngelewatin Boat Quay pinggirnya Sungai Singapura, trus belok ke Jembatan Cavenagh, lewat Asian Civilization Museum,
lewat pinggirnya Lim Bo Seng Memorial trus ke kanan sampe akhirnya nyampe Merlionnya dehhh. Btw gue baru ngeh banyak banget turis Korea di Singapur.
Dah puas foto-foto dan bengong ngeliatin turis foto-foto, gua dan bapak-bapak tadi mulai gerilya jalan kaki ngelilingin Marina Bay Sands. Pokonya ngelilingin aer itu deh, ngelewatin teras-teras
hotel serasa horang kayah. Sayang banget gua ga nemu stand jajanan yang menarik...
Nah trs sampe dah di kaya semacem mal gitu di Marina Bay, isinya bener-bener retail mevvah semua Bvlgari, Alexander Wang, Louis Vuitton, Kenzo, trus sempet lewat kasino juga WUH EIT TAPI BUKAN KASINO WARKOP. Ini kasino tempat menghamburkan uang.
Ternyata si bapak ini berambisi ke Gardens by The Bay. Gua kira bakal deket, taunya jalannya jauh sekali men.
Aku mulai lelah.
Kaki gua geter beneran.
Dan si bapa sepertinya tau saya mulai lelah.
Tapi walaupun kecapean saya sempat swafoto.
Dari sana jalan lagi ngelewatin Helix Bridge, ngelewatin The Float, sampe akhirnya mlipir ke Halte depan National Gallery untuk beli es krim.
Abangnya rame banget dikerubungin turis Cina. Untung aku kecil jadi bisa nyempil2. Gua beli rasa raspberry harganya 1 dolar aka 10ribuan.
Lah dia ngerti gua orang mana.
Rame banget kaya lagi berantem. Trus naek MRT dari City Hall menuju Harbour Front.
Sebelum masuk pelabuhan gua beli jajan Old Chang Kee. Gua beli pastel isi bumbu seafood. Pastelnya gedee dan super enakk. Beli tiga, yang satu gua sisain buat gua sarapan pas balik
ke Jakarta wakakakaka
=====================
Trus gimana rencana jajan lu Aul?
Chapter Two: Singapore is finished.

A Little Batam, A Lot Singapore (part 1)
Before I start to tell you about my short escape I want to give you a little information about my condition right now.
First of all, Alhamdulillah for all of these blessings that I got til this very day. I am currently working in Direktorat Consumer PT. Telkom Indonesia in Consumer Fulfillment division. My division is responsible for all Indihome sales across Indonesia and educate the regional offices about the regulations, the policies, new product, and we also give reward to the one who got the most sales.
Due to that duty, my division often hold an event in foreign city. Its some kind of forum, to give information about the products that we're going to sell, internal regulation, and the target that we want to achieve.
One night, I was ready to go to sleep when my phone vibrating many times.
"whoa, many chats are coming in.." I thought.
At first I wanted to ignore it and went to sleep, but my phone keeps ringing so I got myself curious til I read the chats...
I was asked to go to Batam, and I was asked to bring my passport too!
I couldn't be more happier.
It's going to be my first trip to Sumatra. It's always my dream to go out and see another islands.
But after so many thoughts, I knew that my purpose was not traveling. I went as a committee of an event, I came to work, not for a trip.
So I decided to threw away my thoughts and focused on my jobdesk.
But I promised to myself that I would enjoy every second of my time in Batam.
What made me happier is the chance to cross the island to go to Singapore by ferry.
I've never been to Singapore before, and this is it!
I got a very early flight on a Wednesday morning (boarded on 05.40). I went to the airport at 3 am with my dad but I decided to drive, so my dad could sleep. But what happened was my dad talked many things with me til I got to the airport.
I touched down Batam on 9 am, and went to the hotel by a rented car.
I listened to some songs while observing the streets.
Batam is such a quiet town (compared to Jakarta and Bogor). It looks like an area that I often went through while mudik: Rancaekek on West Java. So many hills, with houses and buildings look stacked from a far. Not much activity seen on such a weekday. Or maybe because the weather was a little gloomy, it was so cloudy that day.
I'm not going to tell about my event because it's just a formal meeting. But surprise! I found out that the guest star of the Gala Dinner is Rossa, one of Indonesian Diva.
Here is my selfie with her :)
Finally the day was come: Batam City Tour. I really curious about this quiet town.
The first place that I went to is Barelang Bridge. I found out that Barelang stands for Batam-Rempang-Galang which are the islands that the bridge is connecting. This is a picture of me taken by Mba Aya.
I didnt stay long (just 5 minutes if I'm not mistaken), mostly because it was drizzling.
And then I went to another landmark in Batam Center (its literally called "Batam Center" by the civilians). Its some kind of "Hollywood sign" which said "Welcome to Batam". Here is the pic.
I also didnt stay long here. Still drizzling btw.
And finally it came to everybody's favourite activity: shopping.
We went to Nagoya to buy souvenirs. There are many shops and generally they sell branded bags (I dont know if its really original but I bought one for my mom, screw brands.), watches, accessories, and various kinds of chocolate. Everybody was visiting shops which close to where the bus parked, but I didnt. I went a little bit far to find a kind of chocolate called Rocklate. Rocklate is a combination of chocolate, marshmallow, chocochips, and peanut. I tell you: THIS TASTES REALLY GOOD. I found it at a shop named Chocolate World, then I bought Milo Energy Cube and Hersheys Mixed Chocolate.
I know I know.... I could find Hersheys at many supermarkets near my house, but I havent found this variant of Hersheys anywhere in Bogor.
Btw I met Persib FC's coach at the same shop with me. It seemed that he bought some alcohol while teasing the shopkeeper. Here he is. I heard that Persib FC had a match in Batam around that time (cmiiw).
And then I moved to a bag shop to bought one for my mom. After that we had our dinner in a seafood restaurant and then went back to the hotel.
That night before I went to bed, I realized that tomorrow I'd be in a foreign country.

Movie Review: Juno (2007)
Coba bayangin lo hamil ketika lo berusia 16 tahun. Berapa persen kemungkinan lo bakal jaga kehamilan lo?
But instead of doing abortion, she decides to keep the baby.
Bukan berarti gue mendukung teen pregnancy.
Disini Michael Cera cute banget. Padahal dia dialognya sedikit. Entah kenapa menurut gue ga penting. Interaksi Juno dan Paulie juga ga begitu banyak tapi gatau kenapa mereka bedua gemesin banget I wish they were real couple in real life heuheuheu.
Oiya jangan lupa amati salah satu soundtrack indah di film ini yaitu Anyone Else But You dari The Moldy Peaches yang dinyanyiin Juno sama Paulie. Ada di adegan terakhir. Gemash banget.
